Learn to write forest management plans
The Department of Land and Natural Resources is accepting applications for a workshop series designed for forestry and natural resource consultants interested in writing forest management plans in conjunction with the Hawaii Forest Stewardship Program. The first of these two-day workshops will be held on Oahu and Hawaii Island during the first week of November.

walk-in hours Friday
North Hawaii Community Hospital’s Kaheleaulani, a Native Hawaiian Health Program, and Adult and Family Medicine Clinic has new walk-in clinic hours from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.
“Our new Friday afternoon walk-in clinics are designed to offer patients more convenience, especially for those who feel like they are getting sick before the weekend,” said Leinaala Crawford, medical director and primary care physician for Kaheleaulani and Adult and Family Medicine at the hospital.

Sales representative
show comes to Kona
A Hawaii Sales Representative Association show will bring 25 wholesalers from around the islands representing more than 200 lines to King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel Friday.
Rubber Stamp Plantation, Island Essence Maui-based organic bath and body products, and Urban Wave Jewelry are among the lines that will be represented. Visitors to the show may pick up catalogs and samples, and should bring a business card and one additional form of business identification. Landscape Management Conference slated
The Hawaii Island Landscape Association and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Cooperative Extension Service will host the fourth annual Landscape Management Conference and Trade Show Nov. 23 at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
The event will provide practical management tools for professional landscape gardeners and is also open to property managers and the public.
Attendees can choose individual classes in tree care, turf and ornamental plant management. The speaker lineup features local experts from the nursery and landscape industry, as well as the University of Hawaii. The theme for this year is sustainability in landscape design and maintenance. The trade show features the latest products and services offered to Big Island landscapers and home gardeners from local suppliers.

leaders for new commercial solar department
P.A. Harris Electric has named Jeff Rich and Casey Francis as lead consultants in their new statewide commercial solar department.
The department focuses on commercial solutions that meet new inter-connectivity standards. Already in the top 20 Hawaii solar companies statewide and the leading Hawaii Island based company, P.A. Harris is becoming one of the fastest growing commercial solar installers in the state.
Francis and Rich previously sold residential and commercial solar projects on Hawaii Island for P.A. Harris. Francis, an engineer, and Rich, a general contractor, both have the technical and project skills needed to successfully lead this new department.
Visitors Bureau appoints new marketing director, sales manager
The Big Island Visitors Bureau has appointed Donna Kimura as marketing director and Teresa Cosgrove as sales manager, two industry veterans who bring more than 40 years of combined experience to the team.
Both Kimura and Cosgrove will be based out of the bureau’s West Hawaii office.
In her position as marketing director, Kimura will be responsible for development, budgeting and implementation of the bureau’s annual marketing plan for all major market areas for promotion of Hawaii Island as a leisure travel and meeting and convention destination.
Cosgrove will provide support to the sales and marketing team in its mission to bring more meetings, conventions and incentives business to Hawaii Island.

Body Glove’s celebrates
60th anniversary
Royal Kona Resort will celebrate Body Glove’s 60th anniversary at its Don the Beachcomber’s Mai Tai Bar starting at 4 p.m. Thursday. Free entertainment will include Na Hoku Hano Hano award winner Henry Kapono, and performances by Body Glove president Russ Lesser on guitar.
The two-day celebration continues with the Body Glove/Tiki Mug release party from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Wyland Kona Oceanfront Gallery on Alii Drive, which is open to the public. State and island officials along with surf legends and Body Glove team riders will be in attendance.
Body Glove was the first to design a practical wetsuit in 1953 and has since become one of the largest producers of wetsuits and other water-related gear.
